Description

The consumption of cannabis via non-combustive means is becoming increasingly common and a preferred form of administration for many patients and consumers. Innovative delivery systems are being developed and adopted in the marketplace at an unprecedented pace. This panel will address current and emerging challenges surrounding such methods and new products from the business, legal, and regulatory perspectives. Topics will include the vaping crisis, regulation of novel delivery systems, hardware inputs and related supply chain matters, various approaches to the regulation of edibles, hemp, and hemp-derived CBD, and what the future may hold.

General

This program is eligible for 1 hours of General CLE credit in 60-minute states, and 1.2 hours of General CLE credit in 50-minute states. Credit hours are estimated and are subject to each state’s approval and credit rounding rules. 

INCBA webinars are generally eligible for credit in the following states: AR, AL, CA, CO, GA, HI, IL, NJ, NM, NY, ND, PA, TX, VT. Additional states may be available for credit upon self-application by attendees. States typically decide whether a program qualifies for MCLE credit in their jurisdiction 4-8 weeks after the program application is submitted. Biography: Robby S. Pinnamaneni is a seasoned cannabis entrepreneur and operator
in the medical and recreational California market with a depth of industry experience
and network—focused on operations and business development. Robby started his
cannabis career 5 years ago and was an owner and operator under the medical and
recreational adult-use framework. Robby’ s breadth of cannabis experience extends
across retail, licensing, genetics, extraction, compliance, cultivation, delivery, cannabis
product development, packaging, distribution, and branding — a vertically integrated
business model. Robby has guided his cannabis operations through the many seismic
transitions, addressing issues such as testing, packaging, compliant products, taxes,
cannabis displays and more. In addition, Robby has participated in the launch and
development of several successful cannabis brands (777 – 2019 Cannabis Cup 1st
Place winner; Classix; and Conshis). Robby’s acumen also includes spending more
than ten years as a real estate and restructuring attorney at top‐tier law firms including
Paul Hastings, Latham & Watkins, and Kirkland & Ellis.


Prior to his legal career, Robby has experience as an Investment Banker and
Management Consultant. Robby graduated at the top of his law school class from
Vanderbilt University, where he also earned a certification in Law & Business. He
earned his Master’s of Science in Financial Engineering from the University of Michigan,
where he was President of his class, and his B.A. in Economics with Honors from the
University of Chicago.

His focus on compliance resulted in implementing a “best-in-class” compliance program. He also designed business strategies that resulted in tripling top-line revenue from $52M to $150M FY19. 

With more than fifteen years of corporate transactional experience with two top international law firms, Arun has guided and advised companies in various growth stages, from start-ups to businesses seeking to restructure or exit. He led or participated in more than 15 complex large U.S. and foreign debt restructurings totaling $12+ billion in funded debt. He implemented novel and successful strategies on behalf of companies and sophisticated creditors in and out of court during the “great recession” of 2008-2011.

Arun has been intimately involved in the creation of the legal, regulated cannabis market in California and throughout the country. He continues to offer his time and expertise to organizations that push legalization forward for a safe and responsible cannabis industry. He is an invited member of the National Cannabis Industry Association's Policy Council, which shapes nationwide cannabis policy through education and lobbying. He is a regular speaker on cannabis industry panels and has been profiled by several publications for his insights on the industry.

Jonathan Havens is the co-chair of both the Cannabis Law Practice and the Food, Beverage, & Agribusiness Practice at Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr LLP.  He counsels state cannabis license applicants and awardees, ancillary service and product providers, investors, management companies, and various other entities that are affected by federal and state cannabis laws.  In addition to his cannabis law practice, Jonathan maintains an active food and beverage practice, particularly with regard to cannabidiol (CBD) products, in which he counsels manufacturers, importers, distributors, and retailers of conventional foods, dietary supplements, and beverages on product development, claim substantiation, labeling, promotion, registration, reporting, and recall issues to ensure compliance with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and state and local requirements.

customs seizures, and labeling and supply chain challenges. Before joining Smoore,
