My former position as the leader of the International Cannabis Bar Association allows me to see the complex legal landscape of the cannabis industry emerge in real time at the local, state, federal, and international level. My background in complex financial regulation gave me the tools to understand and unwind complex regulatory structures and my deep curiosity around emerging markets drives me to explore and understand the unique rules, opportunities, players, and iterations of the developing cannabis industry. 

Aaron’s practice centers on zealously representing clients through civil and administrative litigation, from the onset of disputes through judgment enforcement.

Prior to joining Harris Sliwoski, Aaron’s practice focused on litigation and regulatory compliance in first- and third-party insurance defense, real estate, creditor rights, foreclosure, bankruptcy, and criminal defense. Through the years Mr. John has represented individual and corporate clients in both state and federal courts after having been admitted to practice law in Washington, Missouri, Minnesota and Alabama.

Aaron hails from central Nebraska and is a devout Cornhusker through and through. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with majors in Political Science and Philosophy before receiving his Juris Doctorate from the University of Nebraska College of Law.

In his spare time, Aaron enjoys exploring the waters of the Pacific Northwest with his dog, Tela, and a fly rod in hand. He is also an avid patron of live music and live recording collector of the band Phish. During the winter months, Aaron can be found snowboarding at whichever mountain has the freshest powder and enjoying all the coffee Seattle has to offer.

     Jill is a former prosecutor turned cannabis attorney and has been practicing since 2001 when she first became licensed in Georgia. Serving as a public defender, then as an Atlanta felony prosecutor, Jill then turned to private criminal defense practice in 2012. She served as a Visiting Professional in the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands. She co-founded a criminal justice non-profit, The Georgia Innocence Project, which over the past twenty years has worked to exonerate the wrongfully convicted. She is the Vice-Chair of the State Bar of Georgia Cannabis and Hemp Law Section. 

     With nearly two decades of experience and a track record of success, Jill has been peer-nominated to SuperLawyers six years in a row. She has earned a 10.0 rating on Avvo.com. She is a fierce advocate described by many as a “force of nature”. Jill is relentless in leveling the playing field for her clients and securing the best possible outcomes.      Licensed in Maine since 2016, Jill is a member of the Maine Cannabis Industry Association, Maine Municipal Association, Cumberland Bar Association, and the International Cannabis Bar Association.
